The expansion comes in line with the automaker's long-term plan of bringing 10 new models to the market by FY 2030-31 and rolling out its first BEV from SMG by the end of this year.
Within a span of around 6 years and 11 months has achieved the 3 million cumulative production mark. The last one million units were manufactured in about 17 months, the company said.
In October, MSIL's board of directors granted approval for the acquisition of 12,84,11,07,500 equity shares of INR 10 each, representing the entire paid-up equity share capital of SMG. This share capital is currently owned by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan (SMC), and the total purchase consideration for this transaction amounts to INR 12,841.1 crore.
The GSX-S1000GX is set to hit the market in December 2023, while the GSX-8R will be available from January 2024, with a focus on Europe and North America, the company said.
