  • Top carmakers face stiff penalties for violating emission norms

    Several top car makers in India, including Hyundai, Kia, Honda Cars, Renault, Skoda Auto, Volkswagen India, and Nissan, have been found to have higher fleet emission levels than mandated. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency is recommending hefty penalties against these companies for violating emission norms. The penalties are a result of upgraded Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) norms. The cities in India are currently grappling with hazardous pollution levels, and the government is taking urgent measures to mitigate the problem.
