The recall has been prompted by a potential error in the electronic oil pump controller, which may impact the performance of the electronic oil pump in the specified transmission variant, the South Korean automaker said in a statement.
The vehicle hosts over 70 Connected car features including ‘Find My Car with SVM’, which gives a surround view of the car's vicinity and Hinglish commands to make Sonet the most comfortable drive. The New Sonet offers 19 different variants, including the 5 Diesel Manual variants starting from INR 9.79 lakhs.
Kia India’s former MD and CEO, Tae Jin Park, is retiring after his 36-year journey with Kia Corporation and a 4-year stint at Kia India, the company said.
Customers can avail of the K-Code from any existing Kia customer, which can be used for booking through the Kia India website and the 'MyKia' app and is valid only for December 20, 2023, starting from 12 midnight to 11:59 PM. The new Sonet deliveries will commence from January 2024, except for the Diesel MT variants which are scheduled for February 2024, the company said.

The company's MD & CEO Tae-Jin Park recently shared that India has become its fourth-largest market globally, with local sales contributing to 10% of the global sales. India follows South Korea, US, and Europe with annual volumes of about 3 lakh units. He also spoke about Kia India firming up its focus on this market and looking to “completely refresh” its lineup, slim down on exports and expand its network for the next year.
Kia India Managing Director and CEO Tae-Jin Park also revealed that the company is working on products with alternate fuels like hydrogen and CNG.
"We have an aggressive business plan for next year. We are looking to add 100 more sales outlets and enhance installed production capacity by 1 lakh units," Kia India Managing Director and CEO Tae-Jin Park told PTI in an interaction. The company currently has a production capacity of 3.4 lakh units per annum at its Andhra Pradesh-based manufacturing plant.
The new Sonet packs ADAS with 10 autonomous features, including front collision avoidance assist (FCA), leading vehicle departure alert (LVDA), lane following assist (LFA), etc. Combined with 15 hi-safety features, the Sonet now boasts of more than 25 safety features. The new Sonet also becomes the only compact SUV to offer 15 standard safety features in its segment, the company stated.
In one of the industry-first moves, Kia is extending access to this charging network, in collaboration with five charging point operators, to non-Kia customers, providing valuable assistance to Indian EV users in overcoming range anxiety, the company said.
Vietnam-based electric carmaker VinFast has appointed Pham Sanh Chau as its India CEO, a Vietnamese politician, educator, and diplomat with over two decades of experience. Chau played an important role in strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and India during his tenure as ambassador.
