Top 10 passenger vehicles sold in February 2024

Passenger vehicle sales were at 3,70,786 units in February 2024, an increase of 10.8% over the 334,790 units recorded during the same period in the previous year.

New Delhi: In the dynamic landscape of India's automotive industry, February 2024 witnessed a surge in passenger vehicle sales, reaching 3,70,786 units. This marked a significant 10.8% increase over the 334,790 units recorded during the same period in the previous year.

Securing the coveted first position in February 2024 was Maruti Suzuki's Wagon R, with monthly sales of 19,412 units, posting a 15% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth from the 16,889 units sold in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Tata Motors' micro SUV, Punch, emerged as a frontrunner in the second position, clocking sales of 18,438 units in February 2024. This is 65% Y-o-Y growth from the 11,169 units sold in February 2023. The introduction of the all-electric Punch.ev earlier in the year further fuelled its robust sales performance.

Maruti Suzuki's Baleno, recording sales of 17,517 units in February was in third place. This represented a 6% Y-o-Y decline from the 18,592 units sold in the same month of the previous year, and also an 11% M-o-M decrease.

The fourth and fifth positions were secured by Maruti Suzuki's Dzire and Brezza, with sales of 15,837 units and 15,765 units, respectively, in February 2024. Dzire declined 6% Y-o-Y decline, prompting anticipation for upcoming upgrades to revitalize its market presence. The Brezza, available in both petrol and CNG drivetrains, maintained sales consistency compared to February 2023.

Maruti Suzuki's Ertiga claimed the sixth position, achieving a remarkable 140% Y-o-Y increase by selling 15,519 units in February 2024, compared to 6,472 units in the same month of the previous year.

Hyundai Motors' Creta secured the seventh spot with a sales figure of 15,276 units in February 2024, reflecting a robust 47% Y-o-Y growth. The recent facelift of the popular SUV played a pivotal role in driving sales.

The eighth position was seized by Mahindra's Scorpio SUV, experiencing a substantial 117% sales surge with 15,051 units sold in February 2024, compared to 6,950 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Tata Motors' Nexon clinched the penultimate position, selling 14,395 units in February 2024, marking a 3% increase from the 13,914 units sold in February 2023.

Finally, maintaining its presence at the tenth spot, Maruti Suzuki's Baleno-based SUV, Fronx, which was launched in April 2023, clocked 14,168 units in February 2024. It reported a 4% M-o-M increase.
